God’s Grace is Sufficient

Insights From our Thursday School Media Ministries with Dr. De Von Jackson

Listen to the introduction of Jacob’s history, where Dr. Jackson articulately describes Jacob’s journey back to God and his eventual arrival at a place of blessings for himself and his entire family. From her lecture titled “Thursday School” on June 29, 2025, “Jacob Sets up a Sacred Pillar,” profound insights are gleaned from the study of Jacob’s ladder and the concept of angels ascending and descending.

Point #1: To receive blessings, one must achieve a mental, emotional, and spiritual state conducive to such blessings. This process entails a spiritual journey that requires faith. As stated in Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

Point # 2-Humility, confession, and obedience to God’s word are crucial. These three steps are certain to bring us to a place of sacred peace. They guide us towards truth. James 4:10(KJV) says “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.”

Forgiveness comes through confession. The Bible says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins. He will cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 KJV. Forgiveness and cleansing come through the redemptive work of Christ; St. John10: 8-9KJV)

“But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”Romans 10:8-9 KJV

We must walk in obedience to God’s Word; we are admonished in the book of James chapter chapter 1:22(NIV) says, Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

Deuteronomy 11:1(NIV) encourages us to love and obey the Lord. This verse reads, Love the Lord your God and keep his requirements, his decrees, his laws, and his commands always.

Point #3 – These steps of faith facilitate the revelation of divine connections. Dr. De Von Jackson highlights a significant biblical interpretation regarding Jacob’s dream. In this interpretation, the angels ascending and descending symbolize the connection between heaven and earth.

Jacob’s Ladder

He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth. Its top reached to heaven. The angels of God were ascending and descending on it. Genesis 28:12

The image of “angels ascending and descending” refers to a recurring motif in religious texts, particularly in the stories of Jacob’s ladder and Jesus’s words in the Gospel of John. It symbolizes a connection between heaven and earth, with angels acting as messengers and intermediaries.

Jesus’ words in John 1:51 echo the imagery of Jacob’s dream. These words set Jesus as the new focal point of divine activity and revelation.

John 1:51, Jesus tells Nathaniel, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.

The angels ascending and descending upon the Son Of Man signify Jesus’ role as the bridge between heaven and earth. They represent God’s active presence and work in the world. Angels act as messengers and intermediaries. They can also stand for both the worship of God in heaven and the service of God.

Jesus’s Sovereign Rule

Ephesians 4:10-10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

Not the angels but Jesus himself made the divine connection between earth and heaven; mankind and God; he became our mediator, our advocate, the bridge to victory! I find the truths, revelations, and mysteries of God’s Word to be fascinating and intriguing. Your connection and my connection to God comes only through Jesus Christ. He came down to earth from heaven. The incarnate Christ, the Word made flesh, gave us the divine connection to the Father by shedding his blood on Calvary. He died, was buried, and rose again on the third day with resurrection power.

Jacob laid his head on the stone and fell asleep. It represents the hard places in our lives. These are moments where we must wait to hear from God. We need to make the divine connection and realize that no matter the situation, he is there.  God is with us, he is for us, he loves us, and no weapon formed against us shall prosper. Make the divine connection and experience the move of God. Jehovah-Shammah,” The Lord is There.”
